Galveston, Texas~ The Oleander Hotel

As early as the 1930’s The Green Book listed The Oleander Hotel for offering rooms to Blacks in Galveston. After researching the island we learned that the Hotel was still standing, and would have been considered to be in a not so desired area of the island. ~Picture Provided By Galveston Historical Foundation

The Summer had just begun and it was time to plan a road trip using our Green Book Traveler for the Green Book Project presented by The Idea Fund. We decided to head 45 mins South of Houston to the Gulf Coast, Galveston, Texas.
